About This Location
If you have a chronic or non-healing wound, ask your doctor about the Wound Care Center at Parkland Health Center.
Our Wound Care Center team consists of a physician/surgeons, nurse practitioners and registered nurses. We train frequently to keep up-to-date on the most recent developments in wound care so that our patients receive the most current treatments possible. Our staff is always available to answer our patients’ questions.
During your appointment, you will be taken to a private treatment room for assessment. On your first visit, you will be asked for a list of current medications and we will talk to you about your medical and surgical history. We measure, photograph and document the progress of your wound on each visit. You may need special tests such as arterial or venous ultrasound of the lower extremities. Blood tests also may be required. We will work closely with your primary care physician, providing updates regarding the progress of your wound. For hard-to-heal wounds that do not respond to more conventional treatment, we offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
